ICanHasCheezBurger. What a cute and funny name for a blog. The same can be said for the pictures of cats you see posted all over the blog. These pictures are known as lolcats. A lolcat, is an image combining a photograph, most frequently of a cat, with a humorous and idiosyncratic caption in (often) broken English. (Wikipedia). The idea is really simple, cat owners submit photos of their cats with a caption inserted in the photo (lolcats). Believe it or not, as simple as it sounds, it drew a huge crowd of readers.
In September 2007, ICanHasCheezBurger, started by Eric Nakagawa and Kari Unebasami was sold to investors for about $2 million, according to an article by Time. Who could have imagine that a blog filled with user submitted pictures of cats could be sold for that much in the same year it was created.
